HOW TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN

Don't just believe what I say. Get a Bible and check out the following scriptures for yourself.

REALISE that in the sight of God and according to the Bible we are all sinners. "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23 (chapter 3 verse 23). "All" means everyone, no exceptions.

THE RESULT is that if we stay in that condition the outcome is eternal death "For the wages of sin is death" Romans 6:23. Not only is it physical death but eternal death. Eternal separation from God. Jesus says there is a heaven but there is a Hell too - Luke 16:19 onwards - the story of the rich man and the beggar.

If you live in a materially rich society remember these words of Jesus - "For what advantage is it to a man if he gains the whole world and is himself destroyed or lost?" Luke 9:25.

GOOD WORKS WILL NOT SAVE US "For by grace you have been saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God of God, not by works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9. If good works could save us there would have been no need for Jesus to shed His blood on the cross.

THE CROSS. We cannot bypass it, nor the blood that Christ shed for us. "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace." Ephesians 1:7.

SO WHAT SHALL WE DO? We have to turn to Jesus. Come to him in trust, faith and repentance, - which means to turn our lives around. To admit we are sinners and that only Christ can save us. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except by me." John 14:6. He also said ". . . He who hears My Word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life." John 5:24. Nothing and no-one can save us except the Lord Jesus Christ!!

BAPTISM is important too. "Repent, and let every one of you be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."Acts 2:38. The best way to be baptised is by full immersion in water as Jesus was in the river.

WHAT THEN? Study God's Word, the Bible. ("John" in the New Testament is a good place to start.) Put it into practice in daily life. Join a church where Christ is foremost. Love Jesus, serve Him, trust in Him daily and He will change the circumstances of your life. Talk to God in prayer every day.
